Residential Projects

Waterford Green Estate, Maribyrnong
1996 - 2000

Land Design Partnership was involved in the early site analysis and landscape remedial works with Australian Defence Industries, before undertaking the role as landscape architecture and urban design consultant to the site developers, Lend Lease.

This residential subdivision on the banks of the Maribyrnong River include the development of a Village Green, lake and pond stormwater catchment system, riverside escarpment development and internal streetscaping. The riverside area responds to indigenous vegetation patterns, with a transition into a more traditional and formal open space and streetscape environment.

Many remnant Defence Industries buildings have also been developed independently from the adjacent Lend Lease project. This mixed use precinct developed by Burbank Australia, includes the conversion of offices and warehouses to residential and commercial uses. Land Design Partnership participated in site planning, concept and design development of the landscape setting.

Edgewater Estate, Maribyrnong
1997 - 1999 Site Masterplanning

Land Design Partnership was engaged by Lend Lease to provide landscape architecture and urban design consultancy services for the site masterplanning of this residential subdivision between Gordon Street and the Maribyrnong River. The masterplan proposed the construction of a significant lake system and associated open space network fronting the river. Proposed planting responded to the naturally occurring vegetation patterns of the Maribyrnong river region, with strong stands of trees along the escarpment and riparian vegetation, particularly River Red Gums, along the river flats.

This residential subdivision is located on the site of the well known Bolobek property at Mt Macedon, developed by the earlier owners the Law-Smith family. The new design work undertaken by Land Design Partnership complemented the original homestead precinct, with the greater northern landscape reinvented as part of a rural cluster subdivision. The subdivision includes broad tree lined avenues in the Mt Macedon tradition, and a lake system providing water runoff management and a contribution to the 'Arcadian' landscape illusion.
