Mt. Baw Baw Urban Design Framework, Mt Baw BawLand Design Partnership lead a consultant team in the preparation of a Framework for this Resort, to guide future growth and development within such a sensitive Alpine Environment. A range of urban design initiatives was developed to improve Village amenity and increase recreational activity year round. Key components of the study were to create a central Village hub, improve the main recreational Bowl area, and develop a strong pedestrian and skier link through the Village. Minimising environmental impacts underpinned all proposals.
Stage One saw the development of a new Mountain Sports Centre. Implementation of the second stage, involving a new visitors centre building and Village Square, will begin in 2004.
